You will want to go West and take this book with you!

This is not your ordinary travel book, but it will still want you to get in the car and start driving. The book (and his prequel) follows Bill Wood’s journey’s to fantastic places all throughout the American West in a way reminiscent of Bill Bryson, but still uniquely his own voice. His chapters integrate location information with excellent research that brings in history, geology, biology, and folklore along with his own brand of humor and seamless side trips of interesting stories from Bill’s personal life that suck you in. Not to mention the gorgeous photography – clearly an artistic talent.  Highly synthetic and creative, it’s a lovely read. I plan to get in my car with Bill’s book in hand.

This is a Black and White version of “Photographing the American West Aboard the Photon Bus.”
